Catholic Organizations

Altar Society is the oldest service organization of the church. They clean the sanctuary weekly, provides Mass communion wafers, wine, candles and clean linens for both St. John the Evangelist and St. Clement Chapel from proceeds from the votive candles at the altars in church and annual dues primarily. They also host receptions for 1st Communion, World Marriage Day and other events. Monthly meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of the month in the Parish Hall.

Catholic Daughters is the largest women’s organization in the Catholic Church. Catholic Daughters meet on the 2nd Monday of the month in the Parish Hall. They host the reception after Easter Vigil for the OCIA candidates, provide scholarships and make rosaries for those in need. They hold two bake sales each year to raise funds for their projects.

Knights of Columbus is the largest men’s organization in the Catholic Church. They meet monthly and provide many philanthropic services through their key fundraisers such as the Acadian Festival, BBQ Chicken Dinners and fireworks for 4th of July and New Year’s Eve. They have generously contributed to sustaining both St. John Church as well as St. John School.

Knights of Peter Claver Women’s Auxiliary render services to God, our Church and our community as did their founder St. Peter Claver, a Spanish Jesuit priest who ministered to natives of South America. The Knights of Peter Claver is the largest predominately African American lay Catholic organization in the United States.
